The landscape looks realistic but the piece has just the sort of ethereal quality that is nice for fairy art. You might like studying or trying impressionism--if you do not already: the key thing is impressionists use complementary colours instead of black, and it makes the colours seem better, but the complementary colours still make dark tones. Good impressionism has to do with painting effects of light, but it can still be realism (or not,) and if you have not tried it, I think it would make your pieces of this style even better.
