Hey. This is really nice. I love the idea! I think she looks kind of squished onto the canvas though.
Wonderful dress, and you did a fantastic job on those clouds.

Your art just . . . I'm speechless!! I've been paging through your gallery, :icon+fav: 'ing as I go . . . I love your classical influences, and it's great to see someone with such a keen command of traditional media . . . the translucency on the fabric in "Walking With Rabbits" (ee, hope I got the title right, I don't have that window open anymore) and the contrast between the blooming radiant flesh and wrinkled cast-off skin in "Rebirth" and just *everything* about this one . . .

*bows down*

I'm very much looking forward to seeing what you come up with next!!

Thank you for sharing your work :)

super wow cool. i'd buy it and frame it and use it for a short story illustration in a small but extremely important collection of...short stories.

or something like that.

i am so envious of your watercolour skills! The sky in particular is lovely, and i think your colour choices are excellent. There's something a little bit off about the face - but I know how hard it is to create a small face (incidentally, what is the size of this painting?) - I think that problem is that it just isn't as loose as the rest of the painting, as though you have been a little bit scared to 'do it properly' (that was a bad way of expressing what I mean, sorry). I love her expression.

Hey, thanks. I did have a bit of trouble with the face, I don't usually draw upturned faces. The piece itself (not including the border) is a little bit bigger than A4, so I didn't have a lot of room. But this piece is old, over a year old. I'm just updating most of my pictures because I have a fancy new scanner.

This is incredible. Her dress really does look like rose petals that have been layered one atop the other. It looks wonderful on paper, truly, but I wonder...would any seamstress or couturier be able to get it the same on actual fabric, on an actual person?

Hmmm, a very interesting thought...

Wow, thank you...Well, I've certainly never seen a dress like it, it's an interesting thought to ponder.... :) It might not look that great as a real dress....who knows! :o

There are ways of making it look good as a dress, but I do not know of anyone who could make it. I somewhat imagine velvet as the material, but it would need to be stiffened somehow. And the layers have to be carefully done, so that they actually look like rose petals.

Forgive me for rambling. I seem to be doing that a lot lately...

- looks sort of like she's just been summoned, and isn't too pleased about it - whoever did the doing is in for some serious smiting, I'd guess - probably by way of those weird appendages sprouting from her back, hate to think what kind of ouch those things must inflict... another great piece, Nell!
