My homage to one of my all-time favourite painters, Gustav Klimt, in particular his piece "Goldfish."
I cannot even begin to describe how long I spent on this...well, let's just say it was a long time. In the end, I had to "abandon" it, because I felt I had lost all sense of objectivity and reason and if I didn't leave it as is, then I could be working on it for an eternity.

Acrylic and gold paint.
Approx 20 x 20 inches.

Beautiful! I love Klimt and "Goldfish" is possibly my favourite of his works. It has an undercurrent of otherness that you have managed to capture here as well.

There's certainly a touch of Klimt in there, especially with the judicious use of gold paint, but there's definitely more Nell in there, with the subject matter and the beautiful, sensitive application of the paint. And it just goes to show that you can turn your hand to virtually any medium you turn your hand to and still end up with a beautiful and haunting drawing that's been wonderfully executed and finished. The gold paint really gives what would normall be a rather dark picture a definite spalsh of vividness, and the red hair is simply gorgeous. And as for the deep greens and blues, well, I have a soft spot for that particular colour combo, so it's certainly no bad thing. :D The anatomy is beautiful, and the flesh tones are so lovingly rendered and warm that you could reach out and touch her. Super stuff, you really excel at the acrylics just as you do at the watercolours, I'd love to see more work in this vein from you.

This is simply amazing!
The atmosphere of color in the cloth and skin tones is lovely and I'm amazed at the precision of the gold detailing.
Insta-fave! ;)
